Houston, TX – August 29, 2021 - The Greater Houston Black Chamber (GHBC) announces finalists for its coveted Pinnacle and Upstart Awards, honoring excellence among African American small business owners in Houston. Each year, ten companies are named as finalists for the Pinnacle Award, and five are selected to receive the honor.

Establishing A Niche. Developing my niche in project portfolio management progressed organically along the way in my career. As I moved into leadership roles, project management was essential to gain expertise in successfully managing the resources, time, and scope of small- to medium-sized technology initiatives. The transition from projects to programs to portfolios requires the same solid foundation in managing projects, however, at a much larger scale. 

The DeannaMichel Urban Idealist Spring 2017 Collection curates the contrast of stripped denim with abstract art as our continued expression of a free-spirited nature. The minimalist silhouettes have well-placed seam lines and panels to accent curves with an easy to wear flow. Deanna Michel Boutique is a fashion brand that was created by Deanna M. Laster. Deanna Michel Boutique will be at Oxford Fashion Studio’s New York Collections.

For many years, Deanna Laster was fixture on the local spa scene as owner of The Root of You Salon and Day Spa on Buffalo Speedway, which she opened in 2001. Laster sold the salon in 2012 and turned her focus to fashion.

Over 150 people attended the private launch of Deanna Laster’s Fashion Line Debut on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Gremillion & Company Fine Art, Inc. As part of Deanna’s philanthropic efforts a silent auction was held for Rare Pearls. RARE Pearls are high school girls, grades 11 and 12, who have demonstrated academic skills, leadership abilities, character, and discipline but are at-risk of not living up to their full potential due to extenuating circumstances and challenges.
